Country Classics in Hillsborough, probably the most popular development in Hillsborough, was started in 1988. Currently (2009) building its third section, Country Classics consists of over 500 homes right now, but eventually will have over 800 homes when it is completed. Virtually all homes are two-story, colonial style, located on half-acre to one-and-one-half acre lots. There is a sprinkling of ranch-style homes - perhaps five in the whole development. All have basements and side-entry garages, either a two- or three-car garage. Early sections of CC had features that later sections did not - for example, six-panel solid wood interior doors on both floors, natural wood moldings, etc. Over the years, many of these became extras, and therefore, less frequent. As a trade-off, baths became more sumptuous in many cases and first-floor ceilings higher. The first two sections shared many of the same floor plans, ranging in size from 2600 square feet to as much as 3700 square feet. The most popular model in those sections was the Bentley (below right), with about 3000 square feet, four bedrooms, two and one-half baths, full basement and double garage. Keep in mind that the builders' square footage does not always match the bank appraiser's computations, nor those of the township tax assessor.
One of the early features of Country Classics was a first-floor den/office. That amenity continues to be a standard. In most cases that room was located at the far back of the home, but in some models it is just inside the entry. Most of the homes have hardwood floors on the first floor, carpeting on the second. Within the Country Classics development are two additional, smaller developments - The Paddocks and The Estates. Both have models that are a bit larger than the same models in the main portion of Country Classics, and both have larger lots - up to two acres. These homes generally sell for about $50,000 to $100,000 more than similar models in Country Classics proper. Many have an additional room, known variously as a "conservatory" or "sun room." Section 3, Phase A, included 46 homes located on Cain Drive, Gumble Court, Covel Drive and Mersher Court, and all were completed by 2006. Phase B will consist of about 55 homes on Burniston Court, Ludlow Court and Mack Drive. Some homes in Phase C are already completed, but most of it is still available, on Petrik Farm Road, Abby Court, McCalsey Drive, Kimble Court, some of Mack Drive and Burniston Court. If you have any interest in a home in Country Classics, please get in touch with me. As your buyers' agent I can represent you in the purchase of your new home in Country Classics. Although there are new model names, most are largely the same models as in the first two sections, with the addition of expanded master suites. This section also now has poured foundations, rather than concrete block, and driveways are crushed stone rather than paved. Hillsborough is known for its good schools, and the elementary (K-4) school for Country Classics is Amsterdam School. Tennis courts and play areas surround the school. All fifth- and six-graders in Hillsborough attend the Auten Road School, seventh- and eighth-graders Hillsborough Middle School, and there is a single high school, Hillsborough High School, for all the high-school age children. Currently on the market is a Bentley V model and a Stafford IV in Section 2.
